We won't stop until you have what you need, quickly!
All students are required to present their CVTC Student ID cards to checkout library materials. Any exceptions to this rule must be made by the permanent Library staff person on duty only. Students will not be eligible to checkout library materials if their Library account balance is $10.00 or greater. Students are automatically e-mailed by the Library system when items become due, overdue, or reported as "Billed" in the Library system. Items become "Billed" by checkout system when they are significantly overdue, typically 30 to 60 days depending on the material. Equipment is billed after 7 days overdue as these materials are in extremely high demand by other students and employees. Please be sure to return your Library materials on time! If you are not able to return it on time, please renew the item. We realize that accidents do occasionally happen; for this reason, you are welcome to appeal your Library fine. Appeal forms are located at the Library desk or online through the Library web site.
FACULTY AND STAFF
Faculty and staff are automatically registered for Library services when they begin employment and expire when employment ends. You are required to show identification for security and privacy reasons. Government-issued photo IDs or CVTC issued-name badges are adequate. Even if you personally know Library staff, many student workers may not, so we require identification for consistency as well as for privacy issues in accordance with FERPA regulations.
Faculty and staff are not assessed late charges by the Library. However, employees are "Billed" after items become significantly overdue and will not be able to checkout additional materials if their Library account balance exceeds $1,000. Items become "Billed" by checkout system when they are significantly overdue, typically 30 to 60 days depending on the material. Equipment is billed after 7 days overdue as these materials are in extremely high demand by other students and staff. Any exceptions to this rule must be made by the permanent Library staff person on duty only. Employees are automatically e-mailed by the Library system when items become due, overdue, or reported as "Billed" in the Library system. Library materials are property of the College and must be returned upon end of employment or if requested by College officials. Failure to do so may result in charges for replacement of lost, stolen or damaged property and any cost associated with reprocessing the material(s). Distribution of final pay may be withheld until all College property has been returned.
Community users are required to use their CVTC Library card to checkout materials. To obtain a CVTC Library card, you must complete the Community User application, provide government-issued photo identification, and live within the CVTC 11 County District. Community users have limited access to services and resources. Items available to checkout includes books, audiobooks, DVDs/Blu-rays, children's books, and some periodicals. Community users are automatically e-mailed by the Library system when items become due, overdue, or reported as "Billed" in the Library system. Most reserve items are not eligible for checkout for community users. Computer workstations are available for community use depending on availability at the discretion of Library staff. Community users are encouraged to visit their local public library for computer access in the event CVTC Library workstations are not available.
