Trauma Informed Care Resources

Self Care

As with most ideas in this guide, self-care is defined in a variety of ways.  Simply, it can be seen as looking after yourself with the tools that are available to you.  Here are a few other definitions for your consideration:

The World Health Organization's Self-Care Definition

The Global Self-Care Federation's Self-Care Definition

Just as definitions vary, self-care looks different for everyone!  Here are some great resources to get you started.

Centers of Disease Control and Preventions' "Care for Yourself" site -  Downloadable infographics, tip sheets, and articles for helping you cope.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Coping Tips page - A wealth of links to tip sheets, apps, and resources for coping after a traumatic event.

California's Each Mind Matters Self Care Card PDF - A quick overview of common self-care activities that can help you de-stress.

Lastly, a quick word on self-care from Hank Green of the How to Adult YouTube channel.
