Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use the collections at CVTC?

All CVTC students, staff, faculty and community! Some collections, such as educational technology, can only be checked out to CVTC Students.

Are there any charges for the service?

No, it's free! However, fines and fees apply if materials are not returned by the specified due date or if the materials are lost or stolen. Many students rely on the items that are not returned on time. Overdue technology often impacts other students schedules, assignments, obligations, etc. so please respect your peers and return your borrowed technology on time.

Can I place holds on technology?

Yes! It is recommended, but a hold does not guarantee availability. 

Where do I pick up and return equipment?

The library is located in the Business Education Center in room 120. You an also checkout technology from the River Falls Learning Center. Make sure you have your CVTC Student ID with you. Please, DO NOT return technology in any book drops.

How long can I keep the equipment?

Equipment checkout length varies depending on the item and availability. 

Do I have to sign an agreement before I checkout equipment?

Yes! Agreements can be signed at the time of checkout. You can review and sign the agreement form electronically, by visiting our Equipment Agreement Form.

How do I know what software I need for my program? 

CVTC's IT Department has put together the Program Specific Software List for your reference.

I need to borrow library equipment longer than the checkout policy allows for a class or assignment. What should I do?

Contact the library and ask a librarian or supervisor. Approval varies depending on assignment, length of request, and availability. 

How do I pay technology fines or fees?

Fines can be paid in the library, over the phone, or online through your MORE library account.

How much will it cost to replace something?

That will depend on the item and current replacement costs.  You can find an estimate of current costs, by visiting our

How do I appeal a library equipment fine or fee?

Appeal forms are located in the library or can be completed electronically, by visiting our Fine Appeal Form.

I am a K-12 (middle school or high school) student and I need technology for my CVTC course. Who do I contact?

Contact your instructor or a high school specialist advisor.
