Adding a Librarian to Your Course

Contact the library or specific librarian you wish to add to your class to discuss your course and what level of engagement will work best for your goals.

Choose the right Canvas role for your course:

Course Librarian in pulldown menu

The "Course Librarian - Research" role allows your course librarian to do the following:

  • Add course content
  • Participate in discussions

The Course Librarian role cannot access submitted assignments or grades.

The "Teacher" role is preferable if you plan on having your librarian offer feedback on submitted assignments.

Please avoid using the "Librarian - E-Reserves" role, as it is extremely limited.

In your Canvas Course, you can add the librarian in the "People" section under the role of "Course Librarian - Research" or "Teacher." Please do not select the role "Course Librarian -  E-Reserves."
