Faculty & Instructor Guide to the Library

This guide provides basic information to support the research and teaching needs of faculty at Chippewa Valley Technical College.

Change to Course Reserve

Course Reserves eliminate barriers to access and improve affordability for students.

  • The library is changing the way we handle Course Reserves for the 2024-25 academic year.

    • Course Reserve materials have now moved into our Reference (noncirculating) collection for all students to use within the library.

    • Librarians reserve the right to allow limited checkout of noncirculating materials.

    • Instructors can still ask the library to catalog and shelve your personal copies in Reference, and you can still request that a physical library item be placed into Reference (noncirculating) if it ensures access and availability for your students.

How Do I Add Materials to Reference (Noncirculating Collection, formerly Course Reserve)?

Identify materials to be placed on course reserve for each course.

  1. Personally owned books, DVDs, or CDs
  2. Physical books or DVDs from the library’s collection
    1. Material not available through the CVTC Library?  Submit a Recommendation for Purchase form

Submit the Course Reserve Request Form for each course.

Drop off personally owned materials at the Library Main Desk or send via campus mail.

Inform your students how to access items in your syllabus or Canvas course.

  1. We suggest “This item is available for library-use only at the CVTC Library at the Business Education Center. Items are shelved in the Reference Collection. Ask at the Main Desk at the Library for help locating items.”
