CVTC Library provides an environment for research, scholarship and recreation in support of the academic programs of the Chippewa Valley Technical College. We welcome children to use the library as long as they are accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver and are under appropriate supervision.
Please note the following:
- A parent or adult caregiver must accompany children under the age of 12.
- At the discretion of Library staff, children between ages 10-12 who are using the library for school research may be permitted to stay unattended for a period of time not to exceed 4 hours. High school age students (14-17) may use the library.
- Parents and adult caregivers are responsible for the conduct of the children under their supervision and must monitor their activities and behavior while they are in the Library.
- Library computers are intended for research and the completing of course assignments. All users are asked to refrain from online chatting, gaming and recreational emailing. Children engaged in these activities will be asked to leave.
- All users are required to abide by the Student Rights and Responsibilities spelled out in the CVTC Student Handbook.
- Library staff cannot oversee unescorted or unsupervised children, nor be responsible for their safety.
- If a child is left unattended in the library staff will first attempt to locate a parent or caregiver in the library, but if the adult responsible for the child is not present, staff will notify CVTC’s Public Safety Department.
